Foxglove

The Foxglove is an original illustration in our botanic series.

Foxgloves (digitalis purpurea) thrives in partial sunlight and shade and can often be seen in disturbed ground such as cleared woodlands. Every part of the plant is poisonous, but it also has medicinal qualities.

The Irish name for foxglove is lus mór (large herb), but it also has another name, lus na mban sí, the  herb of the banshee.
