Bookbinding Workshop Waiting List
Join our bookbinding workshop waiting list to be the first to secure your space in our upcoming workshops. We run workshops in multiple different techniques:
- Case bound: Full day. A hardcover, hard spine binding, usually covered in book cloth, with decorative endpapers. Probably the type of book you think of when you hear "hardback book".
- Coptic stitch: Full day. A hardcover, exposed spine binding, with visible decorative stitching on the spine. An ancient binding technique that lies flat when open.
- Long stitch: Half day. A softcover book with exposed stitching through the spine. Multiple sections with a ribbon closure.
- Chain stitch with pockets: Half day. A softcover book with exposed stitching through the spine. Single section with integrated pockets in the cover.
- Chain stitch with closure: Half day. A softcover book with exposed stitching through the spine. Single section with either a ribbon or tab closure.
Attributes

- Learn how to bind your journal using your chosen technique
- Workshop durations vary from half-day (2.5 - 3 hours) to full-day (6 - 7 hours)

Once enough people have signed up, we will contact you to confirm the location, date, and time of the workshop. If the proposed time doesn't suit, don't worry! We will schedule future rounds when we have again reached a quorum. If you'd like a one-on-one workshop, this can be arranged for an additional fee. Please contact us directly if interested!

Amazing experience!!

Chain stitch workshop with closure / with pockets

Really enjoyed these two half-day workshops with Amanda. She brought beautiful papers and tools to work with, and everything was so well organised and clearly explained. A great atmosphere in the class - everyone was friendly and relaxed. Would recommend to anyone who'd like to try bookbinding or to brush up their skills, Amanda is a wonderful instructor.

Happy Days!

I attended two bookbinding workshops with Amanda, one book with a tab closure and the other with pockets inside the front and back covers, both books finished with chain stitch. I was delighted with the finished items and found Amanda to be a clear and patient teacher, giving us all the confidence to finish our books to a high standard. I am looking forward to doing more workshops with her and learning some new skills.

Workshops for Local Cultural Festival

As part of our 2025 local culture festival in Donabate Portrane north county Dublin, Amanda ran two workshops for us - chain stitch notebook making and lampshade making. Everything was provided and the workshops were very well recieved by all participants. The workshops were wonderfully relaxed, friendly, and enjoyable. Everything we needed was thoughtfully prepared and ready to use. Her deep knowledge of both crafts shone through - not only did she explain each step clearly, but she also shared other hints and tips . Both workshops were fantastic experiences from start to finish. Participants went home with beautifully self-crafted pieces and were delighted to have learned a new skill.
From the perspective of a festival organiser; Amanda was very professional and a pleasure to deal with. I would have no hesitation in providing a recommendation for Amanda and her workshops. We will definitley welcome her to Donabate Portrane again!
